As of Jan 29, 2021 outdoor dining is allowed in Hermosa Beach. The neighboring beach cities also allow outdoor dining with the usual Covid precautions. Sit outside while having breakfast, lunch, or dinner while listening to the crashing of waves and the beautiful sunsets as your companions. A large choice if restaurants await your tastebuds!

Yes, it's happening this year in Fort Lauderdale, known as the "Yachting Capital of the World". The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 28 - Nov 1, 2020.

The show exhibits the latest boats and yachts of all sizes, plus marine products and accessories. This show has something for everyone!

They will be asking guests to use masks and other preventative measures to combat Covid.

Maui & Hawaiian Islands Open NOW to Tourists !

Aloha! Effective October 15, 2020 you can bypass the 14 day Hawaiian quarantine by getting a negative Covid test within 72 hours prior to arrival in Hawaii. This will allow tourists from the mainland to return to Hawaii, and enjoy paradise once again. The economy on Maui is ramping up with restaurants and other businesses beginning to open and recover. So, pack your flip-flops and bathing suits and return to nirvana!

Announced yesterday by Hawaii’s Governor Ige! Hawaii will start re-opening to people arriving from the mainland on October 15 by implementing pre-travel testing. Incoming travelers will be allowed to bypass the 14 day mandatory quarantine if they have a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of arrival in Hawaii. CVS and Kaiser Permanente will do the testing on the Mainland.

If test results don't come in by the time the traveler arrives in Hawaii, they must quarantine until a negative result is received. At this time, testing will NOT be available at the time of entry into Hawaii.

So, for those who have been yearning to go to Maui and the other Hawaiian Islands, it's looking possible soon. Aloha !

The TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Best Beaches in the USA are in !

I am very fortunate to have 2 vacation rental condos that made it into the top 10.

Coming in at #3 is Ka'anapali Beach, Maui. And it's no wonder why! I have a studio condo vacation rental right in the center of this famous beach. If you're thinking of spending some time at this wonderful beach, please feel free to send me an inquiry.

Hawaiian Islands Covid quarantine extended to Sept. 1. :-(

Just announced a few days ago, the governor of Hawaii has postponed lifting the 14 day quarantine until September 1. This means that if you're coming from anywhere but the other Hawaiian islands, you must stay in your room for 2 weeks, 24/7. You are not able to leave for groceries or food. So we must wait another month before going back to paradise. But when the ban is lifted, my condo at The Whaler on Kaanapali beach will be ready and waiting for you to come visit !

The day we have been anxiously awaiting is coming soon. The 14 day quarantine for off-island passengers will be lifted on August 1. Hawaii Governor Ige announced today that the islands will re-open for mainland guests as long as the arriving passengers show a negative Covid test within 3 days before date of travel. Maui & Honolulu beaches have opened.

Maui and Oahu residents streamed to the beach this past Saturday. The months-long ban on sunbathing on the beach was finally lifted. There were families enjoying the beach together, able to relax and lay out in the warm sand. Residents felt that it was a great way to ease the stress of the Covid19 restrictions, as well as a boost to their immune systems to finally be able to leave their homes. I personally can't wait to visit my condo at The Whaler on Kaanapali beach once the 14 day quarantine is lifted !

Italy opens borders soon!

It has been announced that Italy will be opening it's borders on June 3. This was one of the strictest and longest lockdowns in all of Europe. On May 18 bars, restaurants, shops, and hair salons are also opening. The impetus for these openings while the virus rages on is Tourism, or rather the lack of tourism. The lockdown has cost Italy over 10 billion Euros. These openings are what tourism operators have been hoping for. Tourism in Italy accounts for approx. 13% of the GDP. Let's hope the airline industry recuperates and flights begin to be available again.

As I own a condo in Maui at The Whaler on Kaanapali beach, I have been keeping track of things that are happening with respect to the Corona virus and the effects it has had on tourism. As you may have imagined, the island's economy has been devastated with the lack of tourists that typically would be vacationing on all Hawaiian Islands at this time of year. Hawaii has the lowest rate of infection of all 50 states in the USA, so they must be doing something right. They have been extremely protective of their islands, issuing a 14 day quarantine for anybody arriving on the islands, including returning residents. Just recently however, they have begun to loosen up some restrictions to try and jump-start their economy. Here's what's planned to open on Maui in the next few weeks:

May 22: Drive in religious services
▪ May 25: Hair and nail salons
▪ June 5: Dine-in restaurant services

Hopefully easing of these restrictions will not have a negative effect on the island's low infection rate.

Beaches open in Hermosa Beach, California

Yesterday the County of Los Angeles opened their beaches, Hermosa Beach included. Visitors are able to walk, run, or jog on the beach. Or to traverse it to go surfing, stand-up paddling, swimming and other water sports. It is not allowed at this time to set up your beach chair and relax on the sand. One of the restrictions is that you have to keep moving while on the sand. We're glad to have access to the beach again as we slowly get back the privilege of it's enjoyment.

Fort Lauderdale & Miami Beaches still closed.

All of the beaches in Florida have been re-opened, with the exception of those in Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) and Miami-Dade County (Miami). At this time, the governor of Florida doesn't seem ready to open up the most popular beaches. Let's hope that it happens soon so people can enjoy the beach located in front of my vacation rental at The Pelican Grand in Fort Lauderdale. .

Panama City Beaches re-opened!

Hello sun lovers! Some good news about the happenings in Panama City Beach. As of last night, the following new rules emerged:

The County and City have opened the beaches with no restrictions other than no gatherings of more than 10 people, and the 6 feet of social distancing being enforced.

We are slowly getting back to where we want to be, which is basking in the sun, swimming in the ocean, playing frisbee on the beach, all while renting a vacation condo to enjoy it from. Looking forward to the next steps taken by those in power.
